Bio-Stim
A unique fish emulsion and soil stimulant for vineyards, pasture, and crops.
Clearance — while stocks lastBio-Stim is a fish emulsion and soil stimulant that is produced through natural anaerobic digestion processes. It is made in New Zealand and is also available in Australia.
Bio-Stim reactivates the soil, enhancing growth and ensuring strong root development. It encourages microbial activity within the rootzone, stimulating the metabolism of the plant. A strong root system increases a plant’s resistance to fungal and insect attack and to environmental stress.

Ideal for use in vineyards with its natural fungal and insect protective characteristics. References are available from viticulturists and nurserymen who are satisfied with their results.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bio-Stim?
Bio-Stim is a fish emulsion and soil stimulant that is produced through natural anaerobic digestion processes.
Will it clog up my spray equipment?
Simply answered: No. This highly refined product is filtered through ceramic filters and is guaranteed to a level of 5 microns and will not cause clogging of drippers or spray nozzles.
When should I apply Bio-Stim?
Good timing guarantees peak performance; the time of day, the time of the month and year are relevant to include into the particular crop cycle. Early morning is the time the plant normally absorbs dew so foliar spraying early in the day will coincide with this natural feeding cycle to improve results. It is worth noting that plants do not absorb foliar nutrients in temperatures exceeding 32 degrees C. The ascending moon cycle is a prime time for foliar feeding for enhancing top growth. Application during the descending moon encourages root development.
How should I apply Bio-Stim?
It has been found that foliar application is the best technique to achieve the precision required for efficient plant management. Balanced growth is most accurately measured at the leaf. Data from leaf analysis can often paint a different picture to that of soil analysis. This relates to complex nutrient relationships in the soil, where imbalances can create “lockups”. Other influences that affect a plant’s capacity to feed itself from the soil are environmental conditions and disease or nematode problems that affect the roots.
Can I put it through my fertigation system?
Yes. The suggested fertigation rate is 200:1 Bio-Stim to water. This should be introduced during the middle portion of your normal irrigation cycle. Many vineyards have calculated their ratio from vine numbers per hectare ensuring each vine gets 2mls of Bio-Stim per application. The CEC of your soil will ultimately determine what frequency and concentration the Bio-Stim should be applied to maximise plant growth. (Median range for CEC is 12 – 25 for soils / M E / 100 g).
How do I combat diseases and pests with Bio-Stim?
Bio-Stim has a 10% natural oil property, which has been indicated by farmers in the field to reductions in insect damage when used in a foliar application. Bio-Stim is also proven in the fight against red spider mite in commercial flower crops.
Pasture Use
Bio-Stim Pasture Boost is a high quality liquid refined from fish bi-product.
How does it work on pasture?
Pasture Boost encourages microbial activity within the rootzone. This activity favours and stimulates the metabolism of the plant. A strong root system increases a plant’s resistance to fungal and insect attack and to environmental stress.
How much do I have to use to get results?
Pasture Boost is highly concentrated and is diluted 400 to 1 for broad acre application. The principle “less is best” should be adhered to as too strong a mix could stall the plant. Extensive trials have been done and this economic ratio has shown to give the best results.
How often can I use Pasture Boost?
Your pasture will thrive on fortnightly applications of Pasture Boost. The foliar feed program features constant application throughout the year.
What makes Pasture Boost different from other products on the market?
Pasture Boost is a unique formulation derived from the refining of deep sea fish bi-product. It is not artificially heated during the refining process.
Who uses Pasture Boost?
Growers have been using Pasture Boost successfully in New Zealand since the year 2000. There has been extensive use in market gardens, large acre crops and of course pasture.
Can I use Pasture Boost with other products?
Pasture Boost has been used in the past with other products. Our philosophy is to encourage the grower to try it on its own. Pasture Boost builds a plant’s resistance to both fungal and insect attack.
How will my stock react to pasture treated with Pasture Boost?
Stock normally graze in spasmodic fashion - they move quickly from point to point seeking tastier, more luxuriant, grasses. However after the application of Pasture Boost, it quickly becomes apparent that the herd begins and generally maintains even grazing throughout the paddocks. Animal health is rapidly improved once stock begin regular grazing of pasture treated with Pasture Boost. For the farmer, this translates into an improvement of the grass conversion rate.
Is there a withholding period?
No. Stock can graze immediately after the application of Pasture Boost.
Recommended Application & Dilution Rates
A recommended application cycle of 10–14 days throughout the growing season. Guaranteed to 5.0 microns — no clogging of spray nozzles. From its highly concentrated form, Pasture Boost should be diluted with water at a rate of 1 litre of Pasture Boost to 400 litres of water. The mixed solution should be applied at a rate of 180–240 litres per hectare every 14 days. pH 7.8
